Building Privacy-First Education Tools in 2026
Most education technology collects far more data than it needs. Usage logs, behavioral analytics, detailed performance profiles — all sent to third-party servers, often without meaningful consent from users or their institutions. We made a different choice.
What We Don't Collect
Numera doesn't collect your practice session data, question responses, scores, or study patterns. There are no behavioral analytics profiles. Your performance data lives exclusively on your device.
What We Do Collect
We collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics — page views and feature adoption rates — to understand how the app is being used. This data cannot be linked to any individual. Exam Pass users' practice history syncs to Firestore for cross-device continuity, with their explicit consent.
Why Privacy-First Matters in Education
Ontario school boards have strict policies about student data leaving school networks. Teachers using a practice tool shouldn't have to worry about their performance data being sold to edtech companies or used to profile them. Privacy isn't a feature — it's a baseline expectation.
The Offline Advantage
The most private data is data that never leaves your device. By running practice sessions locally — questions, answers, scoring, explanations — Numera eliminates the privacy risk at its source. There's nothing to breach if there's nothing stored server-side.
Private by design
Your practice data stays on your device. No accounts required to get started.
