What Math is Actually on the Ontario MPT?
The most common misconception about the Ontario MPT is that it tests university-level math. It doesn't. The MPT covers Grade 9 Ontario math curriculum — the same content taught in De-streamed Grade 9 Math (MTH1W).
The Four Content Strands
Number Sense
Fractions, decimals, integers, ratios, proportional reasoning, and number operations across Grades 3–9.
Algebra
Patterning, expressions, equations, linear relations, slope, and graphing — from Grades 3 patterns to Grade 9 linear equations.
Data & Probability
Data collection, graphs, statistics, probability, and data literacy skills across the full K-9 continuum.
Geometry & Measurement
Shapes, area, perimeter, volume, transformations, and spatial reasoning from Grades 3–9.
Plus Pedagogy Questions
About 20 of the 100 questions test math pedagogy — how to teach math concepts, identify common misconceptions, and support student learning. These questions don't require advanced math knowledge but do require teaching-context thinking.

Numera offers strand-specific drills so you can focus on weaker areas first. Each strand page includes targeted practice questions with instant feedback.
